Built in 1902 and designed in Neo-Classical style, the Pennsylvania Depot was designed by a world famous architect named Daniel Hudson Burnham and is one of the area’s most prominent landmarks.
The Mansion House was built in 1840 pioneer-era as an upscale hotel inn and also served as the office for the Western Stage Company where stagecoaches changed horses.
In 2019, Fountain City received a designation on the National Register as a historic district. This community, which started in the early 1800s, has a variety of buildings and homes that show a range of architectural styles.
Travelers along Indiana’s historic National Road will see landscapes marked by the heyday of the 1840s to the 1940s. Historic villages with traditional Main Streets give way to rural pastures.
