Fall in love with Richmond and Wayne County this autumn
Every season in Wayne County holds its own allure, but vibrant foliage, comfortable temperatures, fun festivals and seasonal attractions make fall an extra special time to visit.
The changing leaves frame the local hiking trails at the Hayes Arboretum and the Cope Environmental Center in Centerville for colorful outdoor adventures. Or, you can always borrow a free set of wheels from the Cycling and Fitness Warehouse in the scenic Whitewater Gorge for a fresh-air bike excursion along the Cardinal Greenway — at 62 miles stretching all the way to Marion, it’s the state’s longest paved rail-trail.

Journey up to the highest point in Indiana at Hoosier Hill (1,257 feet above sea level) for lovely immersive views of the local fall foliage in all its seasonal glory.
Family-owned Dougherty Orchards and Winery in Cambridge City date all the way back to 1883, making the property the oldest family-owned orchard in the state. Stop by to enjoy the on-site petting zoo, Friday night live musical performances, wine tasting and of course, stock up on delicious apples. (Insider tip: Don’t miss the cider slushies and the apple dumplings!)

In nearby Milton, the Jones Family Farm grows 200 varieties of pumpkins across an expansive eight-acre patch of land, offering plenty of opportunities to find the perfect jack ‘o lantern. Meanwhile, the Barn at Helm Experience in Williamsburg maintains a stunning setting for concerts, picnics and photo ops amid gorgeous fields of u-pick flowers.
Stock up on fall-themed decor for your home and candles of all shapes and sizes in scents that smell good enough to eat at Warm Glow Candle Outlet at the Centerville exit off I-70.

A full schedule of fall festivals provides even more incentive to visit Richmond and Wayne County.
