🌸 Happy Spring from Thistlethwaite Falls! 🌸

Spring showers bring the magic back to Thistlethwaite Falls. It’s the perfect season to explore one of Richmond’s most photographed natural spots - climb along the smooth rock formations, listen to the rushing water, and soak in the peaceful beauty of early spring.
Gosh! This is not a joke. Hollywood has entered the ballpark. ⚾

Actors Jon Heder, Efren Ramirez, and Jon Gries are now connected with the Richmond Flying Mummies !

Looks like the team officially has:
⚾ home run skills
⚾ pitching skills
⚾ probably nunchuck skills too.

Who’s ready for Flying Mummies baseball this spring?
Happy Presidents Day!

Did you know, in the spring of 1865, following his assassination, President Abraham Lincoln’s funeral train passed through Wayne County in the early hours of April 30. Thousands of residents greeted the train at each stop to pay their respects, including Richmond, Centerville, Cambridge City and Dublin. Each town was elaborately decorated with ceremonial arches and floral wreaths as the nation mourned.

This mural commemorating the event can be found in Cambridge City's downtown.
This Black History Month, we honor a powerful chapter in both local and national history — the legacy of the Negro Baseball League.

In an era when segregation shaped the landscape of American sports, the Negro Baseball League stood as a beacon of extraordinary talent, resilience, and community unity. Between 1907 - 1960, Richmond continuously hosted the traveling Negro League teams; in all, more than 125 games involving all-Black teams were played here.

This sign commemorating the history of the Negro League sits at the entrance of Glen Miller Park and US 40. Richmond Parks and Recreation

At the time of the explosion there was racial tension nationwide as a result of the recent assassination of Martin Luther King, but in the aftermath of this tragedy we saw strangers and friends come together to assist one another and put their differences aside to help our community heal.
