Unique Works of Nature Found at the Rock and Gem Show
The Eastern Indiana Gem and Geological Society’s (EIGGS) 2019 Gem and Mineral Show from has returned and will take place on Friday March 1 through March 3! With eye catching works of nature, it is no surprise that this annual event pulls far away visitors to Wayne County for this beloved show. At the show you can find Larvikite, the national stone of Norway; Rhodochrosite, the national stone of Argentina; and Larimar, the national stone of the Dominican Republic. You will also spot the beautiful Pietersite from Namibia. On top of site seeing, you will find many opportunities to purchase unique stones, gems, and hand-crafted jewelry!

The show offers more than just a pretty site. Vendors provide talents, insights, and education. Viewers can watch demos of jewelry making performed by club members and inquire about classes. One-of-a-kind, handmade jewelry will be available for sale at various booths. Some will allow buyers to choose the stone they wish to have and have it wrapped right before your eyes!

Rocks and gems provide a wealth of history about where they came from and the land and environment they were taken from. You can also bring in your own rocks and gems to have identified by the geologist that will be on site Saturday and Sunday. Bring in your items and learn more than ever before!
The show will be happening March 1-3 at the Kuhlman Center at the Wayne County Fairgrounds located at 861 Salisbury Rd., Richmond, IN. The show will take place from 10 am to 6 pm Friday and Saturday and 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday. Adult tickets are $5; senior tickets are $3; children and teens from 7-18 are $1; and children under 7 are free! Friday will be a children’s day from 10 am to 2 pm. Young children and schools can learn about fossils and partake in the mining activity. The activities planned are qualified to meet educational requirements for classrooms.
