Spend the night in a storied Richmond / Wayne County, Indiana setting
If these walls could talk… Travelers who prefer their overnight accommodations on the character-rich side have plenty of unique options to consider in Richmond and Wayne County!
Richmond’s music currents run deep thanks to Gennett Records and Starr Piano, and Henry Gennett gets the credit for establishing the city as the “cradle of recorded jazz” back in the early 1900s. The Gennett Mansion Carriage House, behind the recording magnate’s columned residence on East Main Street offers a little taste of how Henry and his family lived back in the day.

Another historic Richmond residence just a few blocks away, the beautifully restored Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Westcott Mansion maintains plenty of space for large groups with four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, original Tiffany stained glass windows, a rec room on the second floor and its own pickleball court!

For something a little more intimate, the Quaker Hill Cabin delivers cozy log cabin accommodations in a private setting with trails that lead to scenic Thistlethwaite Falls. Book a stay during the summer to take advantage of the seasonal swimming pool; access to the hot tub remains available all year long.
Cultured tourists can opt to overnight in the Artist Retreat Guest House, a colorful Craftsman bungalow near Earlham College on Richmond’s west side. Furnishings here include an impressive collection of original art and antiques to admire as well as a fully equipped kitchen, a gorgeous garden and an on-site creative studio.
The art theme continues a little further west in Cambridge City at Monet on Main, a distinctive pair of lavishly decorated suites (with a third currently in the works) in a former 1888 bank building. No detail here has been overlooked, from Impressionist décor and luxurious amenities to thoughtful snacks, a coffee bar and continental breakfast service. Across Main Street in the heart of Antique Alley, the airy Lofts on Main property sits pretty with two perfectly appointed apartment-style lofts in a circa 1890s building.

Nicely positioned in Centerville, the Lavender & Sage loft features modern creature comforts and space for 4 guests above a charming garden/home décor store of the same name. Owners Janel and Kevin Sparks recently introduced a second slightly bigger Airbnb called Sweet Autumn by Lavender & Sage in a traditional 1830s Centerville rowhouse.
