Fossil Trail
There’s a unique experience awaiting you that will make you feel like a paleontologist! The Whitewater Valley Fossil Hunt is a free passport program designed to educate visitors about our fascinating past and promote experiential tourism in eastern Indiana. The fossils found in the Whitewater Valley give us some idea of what life was like in Indiana 445 million years ago. Start by picking up your passport and collect at least 5 fossils to receive your prize!

Richmond & Wayne County, Indiana has many gorgeous trails for visitors to explore. Your options are endless with Cope Environmental Center, Hayes Arboretum, Whitewater Gorge, and Cardinal Greenway! Consider biking the Cardinal Greenway with free Bike Rentals available at the Cycling and Fitness Warehouse located at 213 N 3rd St., Richmond! If you’re looking for a breathtaking view explore Thistlethwaite Falls!

You can’t go wrong with free chocolate and that’s something the whole family can agree on! Richmond and Wayne County’s self-guided journey down the Chocolate Trail takes you to a one-of-a-kind ice cream parlor, Amish market, candy shops/factories, gift shops and more. Chocolate is featured at each stop and is presented in many different forms. Satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth by visiting all 11 businesses located in the passport.

There is so much to see and do in Wayne County! The Wayne County Scavenger Hunt provides a unique chance to explore the area while having fun; you’ll need your eyes, brain, and ears to complete the challenges. Explore local parks, museums, unique shops and more! Work as individuals or in teams to find the objects and answer the questions, take photos, answer trivia and have fun!! Gather enough points at the end and you can turn in your passports for a free prize!

Featured in the popular Netflix movie “All The Bright Places”, you can follow in Violet and Finch’s footsteps as you visit Hoosier Hill. Nestled in a grove of trees, the highest point in Indiana puts you 1,257 feet above sea level. Sign the guest register, take a photo on top of the designated rock or even enjoy a quiet picnic.
