Instagram-Worthy Spots in Richmond & Wayne County, Indiana

Keep your camera & smartphone handy — Richmond and Wayne County offer some fantastic scenery to capture in selfies and pics you’ll definitely want to show off on social media.
Start your photo tour at one of Richmond’s most recognizable landmarks. Named for a local businessman who redirected the Whitewater River to power his mill back in the 1800s, Thistlethwaite Falls in the Whitewater Gorge feature the soothing sounds and sights of water flowing over a tiered rock formation. (Bonus — it’s also an excellent spot to hunt for prehistoric fossils!) Keep the natural beauty going with a visit to the spring-fed Middlefork Reservoir on the north side of town, where you can rent paddleboats and canoes for leisurely excursions on the lake. Stay alert and camera-ready for wildlife sightings.

Home to more than 100 All-American Rose varieties, the Richmond Rose A.A.R.S. Garden along U.S. 40 at Glen Miller Park is absolutely breathtaking in full bloom; try to time your visit for mid to late June and September to appreciate the most color. The sunflower fields at Golliher Farms in Cambridge City take over the spotlight from late July into the fall, a vast expanse of cheerful yellow blossoms atop soaring stalks.
