One Wayne County draw is the mountain biking trails at Hayes Arboretum in Richmond rated among as a Top 10 Indiana Best Trails. The 7.5 miles of trails are designated into four difficulty levels – from beginner blue to the most advanced red course.
Remembering the Explosion that Rocked Richmond: A 50 Year Anniversary
It was an ordinary Saturday in Richmond, Indiana on April 6, 1968. The town was bustling with weekend excitement, parents were going about their Saturday to-do’s, and the children wandered about Richmond with their friends. Nothing alluded to what was to come.
At 1:47 p.m. a pair of violent explosions ripped through the heart of downtown Richmond leaving many people injured, 41 dead, and the entire county devastated.

“The Rose Gown” by Louis Betts hangs in a prominent position in one of the newly refurbished galleries at Richmond Art Museum. The painting – a favorite among patrons, according to RAM Executive Director Shaun Dingwerth – is surrounded by other treasures from the museum’s permanent collection.
Unique Works of Nature Found at the Rock and Gem Show
The Eastern Indiana Gem and Geological Society’s (EIGGS) 2019 Gem and Mineral Show from has returned and will take place on Friday March 1 through March 3! With eye catching works of nature, it is no surprise that this annual event pulls far away visitors to Wayne County for this beloved show. At the show you can find Larvikite, the national stone of Norway; Rhodochrosite, the national stone of Argentina; and Larimar, the national stone of the Dominican Republic. You will also spot the beautiful Pietersite from Namibia.
